Summary

Fieldwalking and metal detecting here during the period 1997-2000 recovered a Neolithic flint scraper, a post medieval crotal bell, a fragment of a metal medieval vessel and pottery sherds belonging to Roman, medieval and post medieval pottery wares.

Site extended west. Top half.
A. Rogerson (NLA) identified:
Roman greyware: one jar rim and two body sherds, one bowl rim.
One rim and body sherd Glazed Red Earthenware.
P. A. Robins (NCM) identified:
Flint scraper/notched piece. Secondary flake, sleep retouch and heavily abraded on left and distal edge, shallow notch on right. Incomplete flake, large, thin, tertiary, honey coloured flint.

Roman one fragment box tile with lattice grooves, rather thick sides more like tegula. 20mm.
Roman greyware: one basal mortarium, two rim fragments, three body sherds, one base sherd very highly fired.
Medieval one base sherd glazed.
Early post medieval: one ?jug rim, one base sherd, late medieval transitional variant.
Post medieval: two Glazed Red Earthenware.
