Summary

Metal-detecting between 1996 and 2019 recovered a prehistoric flint flake; Roman, medieval and post-medieval coins and Roman, Early Saxon and Late Saxon to post-medieval metal objects. The metal finds include a Roman brooch; an Early Saxon sword-pommel cap; a Late Saxon Borre-style gold brooch; a Late Saxon/medieval stirrup terminal; medieval dress accessories and a figurine; medieval/post-medieval copper alloy vessel fragments and ring and post-medieval sword-belt fittings and copper alloy sugar tongs (or scissors).

The Late Saxon brooch is highly unusual and is the first gold, filigree decorated example of openwork lozenge brooch to be found. See Article in Monograph (S2).
