Summary

Metal detecting at this site recovered a medieval padlock in the shape of a horse dating to the 12th or 13th century and eight Roman coins dating from the 1st to the 4th centuries AD.

1997. Metal detecting.
Barrel padlock case in the shape of a horse with saddle, legs largely broken off. Two rectangular slots in rear for entry of bolt, key would have entered from opposite end. Hollow head would have secured shackle to form a locked loop.
