Summary

Metal detecting in 1997 recovered a small Roman dolphin brooch and a selection of copper alloy objects believed to be dress and furniture fittings from the Roman, medieval and post medieval periods.

1997. Metal detector finds. [1]
A small dolphin brooch with remains of pin bar lug on reverse. Foot and wings missing; bow undecorated.
A mystery object! Corroded but apparently complete; rectangular plate with rectangular loop. Loop has two stubby projections. Looks like an Roman button and loop fastener but says Ralph Jackson of the British Museum, but it is not.
A hexagonal section conical bronze object. Flange at wider end with square-section iron ?nail protruding. Is it a long spikey handle from furniture? (A. Rogerson, NLA). Perhaps Late medieval.

1997. Metal detecting. [1] [2]
Found and reported at same time as other objects.
Unidentified object. Cast copper alloy, two short arms each with broken ends, two longer arms, one bent and with broken end and one complete. Semi-cylinder on top complete. All curves original. Binding? or clip. Post medieval.
