Summary

Metal-detecting at this location between 1997 and 2019 recovered a Neolithic flaked flint axehead; a medieval pottery sherd; Roman, medieval and post-medieval coins and a number of other metal objects, including an Early/Middle Saxon mount or brooch; a medieval buckle and thimble; a medieval/post-medieval lead probable weight and post-medieval buckles and a hooked tag.

1997. Metal detecting. [1].
Medieval, very heavy oval buckle frame with integral plate. Frame is long and narrow and round in section; plate has D section and is long, with the far end broken off. One large rivet hole survives next to a smaller ?pin hole. Very strong buckle, but with a small pin hole far away from the loop, it must have had a specialised use.
