Summary

This house probably dates to the early 18th century and has an early 19th century rendered façade. An alternative interpretation suggests the house is built around an earlier building with a three room plan. An inventory of the goods possibly from the house dated to 1737 has been transcribed.

Early 18th century with early 19th century façade. Segmental roofs with offcentre axial stack and gable stack; 18th century dormers; east gable with 18th century platband. Façade rendered, five bays of sash windows, two storeys recessed Doric porch. Interior not described.

However, description by final incumbent in file states that façade dates from 1795 when property sold to church. Windows do not line up with rooms inside. But core said to be a 'Tudor or earlier' house on three cell pattern but with additional gable stack. Lounge and present stairs are additions/alterations. The text was sent to Alan Carter (UEA) who at the time made no criticism of this dating but attached an inventory (S2).

High status brick house of around 1700 with elaborate beams, altered in 18th century and again after 1795 when it became the rectory.
