Summary

The earthworks of a series of ditched enclosures survive in a field close to the site of St Peter's Church, NHER 10180. The enclosures probably date to the medieval period, and one boundary was still in use in the 19th century. Fragments of Roman, medieval and post medieval pottery have been found on the site.

December 1997. Earthwork Survey.
Survey at 1:1000. Earthworks are of enclosure boundaries, probably small fields in the north, but in a probably truncated enclosure in the southwest adjacent to a possible track. medieval pottery sherds were found.
Pottery identified by. A. Rogerson (NLA):
1 probable Roman greyware.
2 medieval unglazed body sherds.
1 medieval unglazed late medieval/early post medieval.

January 2026. HER Enhancement: Forestry Commission Project K.
The earthworks of the likely medieval enclosures and boundaries (see above) are visible on visualised lidar data from a survey flown in 2021 (S6). As the lidar was flown relatively recently, it is likely that the features still survive as earthworks.
