Summary

This timber-framed hall house dates to the late Middle Ages. In the late 16th or early 17th century an upper floor was inserted. A typical taller parlour extension was added in the 18th century. Arts and Crafts decoration was added to parlour during 19th century. Kimberley Estate plaque. An associated timber-framed barn may date to the about 1700. This was extended in the 19th century.

Listing Description excerpt:
"Lobby-entrance type house with a later side extension in Tudor style. 17th-century and extension dated 1866 on datestone. Original house rendered timber-frame and thatched roof; extension rendered masonry and decorative plaintiled roofs. Original house of one storey with attic. Two- and three-light windows with leaded lights, two gabled dormers and an off-centre axial stack. Extension of two storeys with an attic gable. Two- and three-light leaded windows, a gabled porch with imitation timber-framing. Decorative ridge-tiles and Tudor style chimneys."

Examined by E. Rose (NLA):
Hall house, with inserted upper floor and rebuilt parlour cell of late 16th century date.
However in addition to the parlour stack a second stack was inserted in the centre of the hall at the same time, dividing the hall into two heated rooms.
External alterations in 1866.
Barn, timber framed about 1700.

Timber-framed open hall house with Queen post central truss. Floored over and axial stack inserted in 17thcentury. Tall and elegant parlour added in early 18th century. Arts and Crafts detailing to exterior.
