Map

1997. Found in garden.
A very well preserved medieval lead ampulla, with a 4 petalled flower on one side and a heart on the other.
The flower has a radiating line between each petal and is surrounded by a circle. Outside the circle, below the angular handles is a zig-zag filled with hatched lines. The heart has an arch over it supported by two 4-petal flowers, is within a circle and is surrounded by diagonal lines. Probably 13th century.
A souvenir of where?
Identified by H. Geake (A&E).
A. Rogerson (NLA) 14 April 1998.

In late 1994 source [1] told NLA that his mother 'who lives by the castle earthworks' had found in her garden a 'thing like a little metal pot' that had been taken to the Fitzwilliam Museum.
This is not the same find as above, but is it the site and is it another ampulla?
E. Rose (NLA) 29 April 1998.

1998. Casual Find.
Roman coin found near north edge.
See list in file.
