Summary

A Rapid Earthwork Identification Survey conducted in 1998 recorded the presence of a subcircular or oval mound on this site. It was 15 x 20m in diameter, 0.5m high, and is thought to be a Bronze Age round barrow. No convincing sign of this mound could be detected at this location on the 0.5m resolution Lidar data. Other mounds were identified to the west of this location, including one 60m to the SW that is of comparable dimensions, see NHER 61485.

No convincing sign of this mound could be detected at this location on the 0.5m resolution Lidar data (S2). Other mounds were identified to the west of this location, including one 60m to the SW that is of comparable dimensions, see NHER 61485. Due to potential problems of location with the forest, it is feasible that these mounds are in fact the same monument. However further inspection on the ground would be required to investigate this.
This monument is located in close proximity to numerous other barrows, forming a dispersed cemetery group (NHER 61484) in this area.
