July 1998. Metal detecting find.
Lovely copper alloy pointed oval seal matrix, 13th century. Raised rib ending in pierced lug on reverse. Design of an Agnus Dei (Lamb and Flag), the lamb with raised foreleg and looking up at flag pole on which the flag with three streamers is at half mast. On one side of the pole is a star, and on the other a crescent moon. Under the lamb's feet is a fleur-de-lis. Around is a legend between dotted borders. * S'.lOhlS.DE.AVLA = Seal of John (of the) Hall (S1).
