Full Description
February 1946. RAF air photograph shows enclosure, about.90m east-to-west by 80m north-to-south on heathland.
North boundary consists of ditch with flanking banks. Other boundaries are less clear but suggest the same form.
Enclosure is crossed south-south-west to north-north-east by probable old trackway or boundary which extends to between Ringmere and Fenmere to the north.
Probably post medieval, possible sheep pen?
B.Cushion (NLA) 22 October 1998.
Visited October 1998
Land is arable, no obvious undulation relates to this feature, several amorphous natural surface irregularities in the area.
B.Cushion (NLA) 2 November 1998.
November 2010. Norfolk NMP.
A rectangular enclosure is visible as an earthwork on aerial photographs (S1-S on land to the southwest of Ringmere, on Croxton Heath. It is centred on TL 9042 8752 and it measures 81m by 91m internally, 88m by 96m externally. It is not visible on the historic maps of the area, but is likely to represent a post medieval stock enclosure.
It is crossed by at least two earthwork tracks, from the southwest to the northeast.
A second possible rectangular stock enclosure is visible to the east (NHER 54515).
E. Bales (NMP), 04 Nov 2010.
