Summary

An archaeological watching brief along the sea front in advance of a gas pipeline recorded a spread of burnt modern rubbish and concrete and brick 20th century structures perhaps related to previous sea wall defences and former sea front tramway installations.

Initial results from northern section revealed only late post medieval surfaces and traces of tramway installations.
