Full Description
1972. Listed, Grade II.
Listing Description Excerpt:
"Former use unknown now shops. 17th century, altered in the 19th century and 20th century. Rendered. Pantile roof. Two plain shopfronts with end doors. Casement windows through-out. Fascia cornice."

1977. Field Observation.
Restoration of ostensibly 17th century range of shops revealed 15th century (or thereabouts) blind arcade adjacent to passage.
Limited commercial excavation on the site only.
Floor levels within building sealed by a 15cm (6 inch) layer of concrete (not removed).

Examined as part of Norwich Survey.
Late 15th- or 16th-century three-storey block with two-storey 18th-century back block.

Undercroft beneath No. 7 was four bays each with single order diagonal ribs. There are four side chambers, one of which is associated with the entry to the undercroft. Another, in the opposite may have given access directly to the pavement. The undercroft is positioned parallel to and on the street line.
The plan follows the Timberhill/Orford Hill curve and the stairs were in the rear, re-entrant angle.
17th century building constructed as pair of single cell unit. Three storeys high, back-to-back stacks. 18th and 19th century rear extensions. Two brick arches in late 15th or early 16th century ground floor end gable of No.7.
