Summary

In 1999 a watching brief noted the remains of two post medieval structures, post medieval waste tipping and modern masonry remains. There was also evidence of Victorian land scraping and modern levelling activities.

October 1999. Watching Brief.
Undertaken during excavation of a north-west to south-east aligned pipe trench across Shirehall Plain, east of Norwich Castle.
The remains of two post-medieval structures were identified, as well as evidence for post-medieval waste tipping. There was also evidence of Victorian land scraping and modern levelling activities. Modern masonry remains were also exposed. Finds recovered included a single sherd of medieval pottery and two post-medieval pottery sherds.
