Summary

Fieldwalking in 1997 in advance of the Bacton to Great Yarmouth pipeline recovered prehistoric flints and a medieval roof tile. Metal-detecting in 2018 recovered a medieval coin; a Middle/Late Bronze Age pennular ring; an Early Saxon brooch and aLate Saxon Anglo-Scandinavian zoomorphic harness/bridle cheek piece fragment.

January-April 1997. Systematic Fieldwalking and Metal-detecting Survey.
Field survey on proposed route of Bacton to Great Yarmouth pipeline (Field/Location RDX 28.3).
Six Prehistoric flints including flakes, retouched flakes, struck fragments and spall were recovered along with a medieval tile.

Middle/Late Bronze Age copper alloy pennular ring with gold plating. The plating features alternating stripes of gold and a silver metal, possibly electrum.
Early Saxon incomplete Great Square Headed brooch (S2).
Late Saxon Anglo-Scandinavian zoomorphic harness/bridle cheek piece fragment in the form of the head and neck of a possible dragon.
1 medieval coin.
