Summary

A dense concentration of 13th to 14th century pottery fragments was recorded here during a fieldwalking and metal detecting survey in advance of a gas pipeline between Bacton and Great Yarmouth.

Field survey on proposed route of Bacton to Great Yarmouth pipeline (Field/Location RDX 36.12).
A very dense concentration of 12 to 13th century pottery was recovered from the southern end of the plot along with animal bone and one fragment of medieval tile. The scatter continued for approximately 75m and was aligned roughly north to south across the transects. Fieldwalking in the adjacent plot (RDX 36.13/NHER 34043) recorded a similar but less dense concentration of medieval pottery at the northern end of the field, continuing for about 15m.
