Full Description
April 1946. RAF Air Photograph.
Faint outlines of three conjoined circular structures with concrete road approaching then from the east. Buildings to southwest interpreted as searchlight battery.

The site of a World War Two searchlight battery is visible on aerial photographs at Honingham (S2-S3). The site is centred on TG 1184 1181 and consists of a trefoil arrangement of searchlight emplacements and associated defensive structures and accommodation buildings. Additional structures and elements of the site have clearly been removed prior to March 1945 (S2). At TG 1203 1197 on the opposite side of the road to the site is a small structure, possibly a pillbox or similar gun emplacement, which was probably an outlier defence to protect the site (S2-S3). The rough ground within the area of the site shows evidence of weapons pits and small practice trenches.
