Summary

This 16th century house has been much altered, and now has a 19th century brick façade over the original timber-frame. The roof height has been raised at the right hand end, and during restoration work in 1980 on the right hand bay revealed jowled posts, arched braces to the tie beams, and queen posts.

16th century house much altered. 19th century brick over timber frame. Roof height raised at right hand end. Four eyebrow dormers, off centre axial stack. During restoration 1980 right hand bay revealed jowled posts, arched braces to tie beam, queen posts arch braced to purlins. Five light diamond mullioned window in gable wall. Inserted upper floor.
Adjacent bay built as two storeys with tiebeam below wallplate. Arched braces from jowled posts to collar beam; spur tie between wallplate and arch braces; queenposts to collar beam.

This sounds as if it is saying the house is a hall house, but the description of the 'tiebeam below wallplates' etc is most hard to envisage.
