Full Description
April 1946.
RAF aerial photograph shows 4 circular structures alongside hedge to east which are commensurate with anti aircraft battery.
B. Cushion (NLA) 16 February 1999.
April 2010. Norfolk NMP.
A World War Two anti aircraft battery is visible on aerial photographs taken from 1945 onwards (S2-S9), but is clearly demolished by 1952 (S10).
Four gun emplacements are visible in a north-south line, with a command post to the centre left, centred on TG 2058 1315.These are particularly clear on (S5). An area of accommodation huts is visible to the south, centred on TG 2060 1297.
The site is not visible at all in 1942 (S1). It is also clear to see that the site changes character between March and May 1944 (S2-S3), suggesting that it was perhaps still in use as an AA battery on the earlier photograph, but that by May 1944 there are several rows of tents visible at the southern end of the site, perhaps indicating further temporary accommodation here once the site had gone out of use.
E. Bales (NMP), April 2010.
