Map

Described in 1971 listing (S1) as 17th century timber frame, thatched roof, two storeys and one bay. Large brick stack to north. Later brick wing on north end, one storey and attic, pantiled.
This may well be correct but when seen in passing in March 1999 the impression was very much that of a hall-house with the usual rebuilt parlour end with associated stack, the hall section then having been rebuilt or coated in brick in the 18th century.
The stack is massive and of great width where is rises from the lower roof, but then narrows before it reaches the apex of the taller roof section, very much as if part of it had been within a roof lower than that to the left but taller than the present roof to the right.
E. Rose (NLA), 15 March 1999.
