Summary

Metal detecting between 1999 and 2022 recovered a potentially Mesolithic flint flake; Roman, medieval and post-medieval coins; post-medieval tokens and a number of other, Roman to post-medieval metal objects. These metal finds include a Roman lead and iron steelyard weight; a complete Middle Saxon pin; a medieval spur buckle and harness suspension mount; a medieval/post-medieval copper alloy vessel fragment and a post-medieval buckle and lead trade weights.

1 Middle Saxon complete pin, of lovely green bronze. The head is a cube with the corners cut off. The top has an engraved cross and the four lozens form side faces each have engraved borders with crossing corners (like a hash sign #). The shaft is circular in section and at the top has two transverse grooves (imitating a collar). Below this it tapers and bends (rather wiggly bends - original?). Around 8th - 9th century.
