Map

January/ February 1999. Metal detecting.
H. M. Geake (NCM) Identified:
Side knob from a Early Saxon cruciform brooch, now very corroded but probably not burnt. The knob is curiously irregular. It is hollow and filled with corrosion from an iron pin bar, but the thickened edges project beyond the hollow as if the knob was once bigger. The decoration, though, of a ?human face with lined forehead, titianguler eyebrows and nose, round eyes, lined cheeks and round? nostirls appears complete. Above the forehead is an irregullar projection - ?part of the head plate?
6th century.
Polaroid taken by NCM.
A. Rogerson (NLA) 12 April 1999.

February-March 1999. Metal detecting.
One medieval coin (sterling imitation) at location [1].
See list in file.
A. Rogerson (NLA) 20 July 1999.
