Summary

A mid-19th-century public library that has been converted into a shop and offices. Designed by Anthony Salvin it is built of stuccoed brick and has three storeys, three bays and a slate roof.

Listing Description excerpt:
"Public library, now shop and offices. Mid 19th century. By Anthony Salvin. Stuccoed brick under a slate roof. Three storeys; three-window range. The central element is stepped forward from narrow side fillets. Ground floor altered late 20th-century to a shop front...Deep string course below second floor which has a Venetian window broken forward under an open pediment and supported by a volute right and left. Gabled roof. INTERIOR: upper floor retains moulded cornice."
