Full Description
March 1999. Metal detecting finds.
HMG identified:
Complete Roman two piece Colchester brooch, bent and now in two pieces. The wings are semi-cylindrical, undecorated with a double pierced lug at the centre. The upper perforation holds a a fragment of Ac wire from the springs chord. On the front, a groove runs down from the lug onto the bow then stops. The break occurs just below. The foot is a plain point with a catch plate with two circular perforations on the reverse. It dates to the 1st century AD.
