NHER 34596 (Find Spot record) - Post medieval thimble

Post medieval silver thimble, made by hammering a single sheet of metal and brazing a seam. Very well made and in excellent condition, with a straight rim decorated with a single groove above and a pair of grooves below. The indentations are cut leaving small reserved circles of metal in a grid pattern. The top is bare with a single central indentation and border of oblique panels, alternatively ribbed and plain. It dates to around 1600 to around 1650 and as such is quite rare and highly collectable. No maker's mark/ hallmark.
