Full Description
Before June 1998. Metal detecting. [1].
Finder's Field: BMF 5c.
Early post medieval book clasp. Copper alloy with blackened (burnt) surface. Parallel sides with slightly flaring 'serrated' end; opposite end has surviving hook. Plate has central boss surrounded by stamped 'stars'; more stars surround decayed rivets.
Finder's Field: BMF 5d.
Early post medieval flattish circular copper alloy weight with crow and fleur-de-lys on surface; the other apparently plain. Weighs 0.205oz (5.817g).

H. M. Geake (A&E) Identified:
Mystery object. Rectangular piece of cast copper alloy, with rough surface as if damaged by heat. 2 short sturdy integral rivets on reverse. Three edges appear complete: one short side is broken just beyond a transverse panel of short ribs contained within a ridged border. At the break 2 projections (?start of a splay) can be seen. Rivets looks Roman.
