Map

1999. Fieldwalking finds.
Details to come.
E. Rose (NLA), 25 October 1999.

2000. Stray find. Found at TF 9111 2529.
Polished stone axe, Neolithic (probaly Late Neolithic). 76mm by 50mm by 25mm.
Made of fine grained bauded green stone, giving a highly polished finish.
The axe has suffered considerable damage with two large flakes lost from the butt and many small chips on the unsymmetrical cutting edge. Both lateral edges are slightly flattened.
Almost certainly imported to the region, but possibly made locally from a glacial erratic.
See illustration (S1) in file.
Information from and identification by P.A. Robins (NCM).
K. Hinds (NLA), 22 August 2000.
