July 1998. Metal detecting.
Medieval; part of the rim of a cast-bronze cooking vessel, with some soot or staining on exterior.
Medieval; two joining pieces of a cast-bronze cooking vessel.
Medieval/early post medieval hemispherical pin or stud with short, spiked shaft and gilded, relief decorated head. It is now rather worn, but the basic outlines of the ornament can be seen; a cross with ?scrolls in the angles. A most unusual find. The shaft may have worn down form a longer pin or may have been a decorative stud from a box or similar. (S1).
Identified by H. M. Geake (NCM).
K. Sussams (NLA), 20 May 1999.
