Summary

Metal detecting here in 1998 recovered an Early Saxon cruciform brooch. The brooch was missing its head and was decorated with ring-and-dots around the edge. A fragment of the catchplate remained on the back.

Early 1998. Metal detecting.
Early Saxon Cruciform brooch, head missing, moulded collar with incised lines at top of bow. Bow bevelled, hollow underneath moulded, with incised lines at base of bow. Scrolled lappets projecting either side of top of leg. Leg bevelled at edges approx 8m from top and tapering. Decorated with ring-and-dot round the edge. Fragment of catchplate remains on the back. 6th century.
