Full Description
April and May 1998. Metal detecting.
Roman reversed fantail brooch.
Virtually complete, it has short semi-cylinderical wings open at the back for the missing spring and decorated on the fron with an oblique groove each.
The ends are worn down.
In the centre is a rear-facing hook, with an engraved saltire below on the front.
The bow is a slid anular hump; below is the reversed fantail leg with the projecting corners rather worn away. This also has a central engraved saltire. The foot has a smoothly swollen knob and a catchplate on the reverse.
