Summary

Medieval and post medieval pottery and metalwork, including buckles, strap fittings and a bell, found by metal detecting in 1999, 2004 and 2005. A fieldwalking and metal-detecting survey of part of this field in 2008 recovered prehistoric worked flints; Roman, medieval and post-medieval pottery sherds; a post-medieval roof tile; post-medieval coins and a small number of other post-medieval and undatable metal objects.

March-April 2008. Systematic Fieldwalking and Metal-detecting Survey.
Field survey on proposed route of Sheringham Shoals Offshore Windfarm Grid Connection (Field 5).
Finds recovered included:
1 Bronze Age flint thumbnail scraper.
1 prehistoric flint piercer, 1 retouched flake and 3 flakes.
1 Roman pottery sherd.
2 medieval pottery sherds.
3 post-medieval coins, 1 pottery sherd, 1 roof tile, 1 shoe buckle, 1 copper alloy stud, 3 copper alloy buttons and 1 copper alloy unidentified object.
1 undatable copper alloy cast ?vessel fragment, 2 copper alloy sheet fragments and 1 lead offcut.
Finds from this field comprised seven prehistoric worked flint including a thumbnail scraper of likely Bronze Age date, a fragment of Roman pottery, medieval pottery sherds and three post-medieval coins (two 18th century and one 19th century).
