Map

December 1997. Metal detecting.
Late medieval/early post medieval unusal buckle/belt/strap fitting with (squared) D-shaped frame and elongated knop ending in pierced loop. Pin complete. Is the knop a red herring (pin means that the strap would have come from the other direction) or was it used for secondary suspension? File marks on all edges suggest late medieval/early post medieval date.
See Polaroid (S1). Description also in file [1].
K. Sussams (NCM), 17 May 1999.
