Summary

Metal detecting in 1997 recovered a large early post medieval convex circular harness boss. Made of heavy cast copper alloy and gilded, it is decorated with a border of two concentric ridges with dots between. Inside the border is a broad band of relief plant ornament with leaves and occasional rose-like flowers. In the centre is a six-petalled rose surrounded by a cabled border. On the reverse is a very sturdy circular-sectioned shank, now bent over.

Early post medieval large circular harness boss, convex and 43mm in diameter. Made of heavy cast bronze and gilded, it is decorated with a border of two concentric ridges with dots between. Inside the border is a broad band of relief plant ornament with leaves and occasional rose-like flowers. In the centre is a six-petalled rose surrounded by a cabled border. On the reverse is a very sturdy circular-sectioned shank, now bent over.
