Summary

Metal detecting in this area during 2000 recovered a coin of Henry III. A systematical fieldwalking and metal-detecting survey undertaken in 2004 recovered a large quantity of prehistoric struck flint including cores, blades, scrapers and piercers and a concentration of post-medieval pottery and ceramic building material indicative of a former building as well as a few medieval pottery sherds and small quantities of post-medieval metal objects.

February 2004. Systematic Fieldwalking and Metal-detecting Survey. Contexts 1-129.
Finds included:
125 prehistoric struck flints, including 4 cores, 5 blades, 7 scrapers, and 2 piercers.
7 burnt flint fragments.
3 medieval pottery sherds.
13 post-medieval pottery sherds, and 9 fragments ceramic building material.
1 medieval/post-medieval (16th-century) buckle and 1 copper alloy ?vessel foot.
1 post-medieval lead cloth seal, 1 lead weight.
19 objects of non-archaeological value.
The flint collected from this site was not particularly diagnostic or datable, but it most likely dates to the later prehistoric period (Later Neolithic to Iron Age).
The post-medieval pottery and ceramic building material was clustered towards the centre of the field, possibly indicating the location of a former building.
