April to May 2000. Metal detecting. [1].
One medieval coin. See list in file.
Early post medieval Lion of St Mark jetton. Obverse: lion with halo entirely within the border, holding a book. Reverse: large orb within trefoil with points in the angles. Fictitious legends. Anonymous Nuremberg issue of about 1500 to about 1570. See (S1) 1097 to 1101. Identified by H.M. Geake (NCM).
K. Hinds (NLA), 21 June 2000.
April to May 2000. Metal detecting. Found with previously reported finds. [1].
Copper alloy disc with cast gilded decoration on one face, iron staining on the other. Eight grooves radiate from the centre; a constant angle between them (i.e. as a saltire over a cross). In each angle is an inverted triangle with a central dot and surrounded by a palmette.
Presumably medieval. Function uncertain, no visible means of attachment.
A. Rogerson (NLA), 23 October 2000.
August 2018. Metal-detecting. [2].
Late Saxon/medieval spindle whorls.
Medieval/post-medieval copper alloy vessel fragment, a candlestick stem fragment, and a disc of a cloth seal.
Information from PAS import.
E. McDonald (HES), 1 June 2020.
January-March 2019. Metal-detecting. [3].
Probable medieval lead disc with engraved lines and rocker arm. Possibly a trial piece.
Information from PAS import.
Note this object is similar to the disc recovered in 2000, possibly sugggesting a manufacturing site nearby.
