NHER 35346 (Find Spot record) - Roman copper alloy pin head

April-May 2000. Metal detecting.
H. M. Geake (NCM) identified: Possible Roman mysterious copper alloy object, perhaps a pin head. A solid flattened bicone or flattened globular shape, from the longer conical end emerges a chunky circular section projection, 4-5mm in diameter, which is cut off straight with file marks across the cut. From the other end a second projection emerges, about 2mm in diameter, whcih has a possible very old break. The head is decorated with deep broad oblique grooves. The chunky projection is in the conventional position for a pin shaft, but has been oddly cut across. The smaller projection seems at the wrong end, but does not have this clear cut, so may be more likely to be a shaft.
