Summary

An archaeological watching brief during the construction of a reservoir recorded an Iron Age pit containing pottery, a sandstone saddle quern stone and flint rubbing stones. Other finds include Roman coins, Roman tile, a 14th century buckle and a post medieval thimble.

Monitoring of topsoil stripping for new reservoir.
Iron Age pit containing pottery, sandstone saddle quernstone and flint rubbing stone found.
Prehistoric struck flint, Iron Age sherds, Roman coin (copper alloy follis of Licinius I 308 to 324), possible fragment of Romano-British Imbrex, copper alloy 14th-century strap buckle, post-medieval copper alloy thimble and unidentified lead fragments also found.
