Full Description
East of field boundary (former Intwood/Keswick parish boundary) directly in line with south edge of Breck Plantation, called Long Belt in 1886. This was within Keswick Hall Park.
Brick kiln, marked as disused on (S1).
Note that NARG field walking 1977 in advance of Southern Bypass produced no finds from here.
E. Rose (NLA), 15 September 2000.
The centre of the site has been amended from TG 2024 0388 to TG 2028 0387.
March 2009. Norfolk NMP.
The 1847 Keswick Tithe map indicates a ‘Brick Ground’ at this location (S2). The site is centred on TG 2028 0387. The boundary ditches relating to the edge of this brick kiln, as depicted on the Tithe map, are visible on aerial photographs (S3). A pair of ditches to the east of the brick kiln enclosure were also mapped. It is not clear whether these ditches were also associated with brick making activity at the site or whether they were field boundaries, also of a broadly post medieval date, that had gone out of use by 1847 (S2).
S. Horlock (NMP), 24 March 2009.
