Summary

Metal-detecting at this location between 1998 and 2025 recovered an undated lava quern fragment; Iron Age, Late Iron Age/Roman, Roman, Early/Middle Saxon, Middle Saxon, Late Saxon, Late Saxon/medieval, medieval and post-medieval pottery sherds; medieval ceramic roof tile fragments; copper alloy metal-working debris; Late Iron Age, Roman, medieval and post-medieval coins; post-medieval tokens and jettons and a range of other, undated and Bronze Age to medieval metal objects. These metal finds include undated weights and an iron rod of undetermined function; a Middle/Late Bronze Age spearhead fragment; a Late Bronze Age spearhead fragment and socketed axehead; numerous Roman brooches, a cosmetic pestle, pin, bell, rivet and possible copper alloy ingot; Early Saxon wrist clasps and a brooch; Middle Saxon brooches; a Middle/Late Saxon hooked tag and possble lead pattern for hooked tag; a Late Saxon strap or furniture fitting, bridle bit link, ?key and unusual probably Carolingian strap end; a possible Late Saxon/medieval staff terminal; a Late Saxon to post-medieval lead spindle whorl; medieval to post-medieval dress accessories; a medieval mount, rotary key, harness hook, thimble and copper alloy seal matrix; a medieval/post-medieval copper alloy vessel leg and a post-medieval thimble and lead cloth seals.
