Full Description
October 2000. Metal detecting.
Medieval copper alloy buckle with integral hollow plate, large (40 by 81 mm), elaborate bow shaped with cast foliate decoration at sides and outer edge. Transverse moulding waisted between inset for pin and hollow trapezoidal plate. Plate has engraved letter ?I on rectangular field with pointed ends, and is pierced by two rivet holes. Rectangular sectioned pin. Traces of silvering survive.
