Summary

Metal detecting from 2003 to 2017 recovered a Neolithic flint scraper, and Late Bronze Age and Late Saxon to post-medieval metal objects. The metal finds include part of a Late Bronze Age spearhead; a Late Saxon copper alloy stirrup-strap mount; a Late Saxon/medieval strap-end; a medieval annular brooch and key; a medieval/post-medieval copper alloy vessel fragment; and post-medieval strap fittings and a buckle. The Late Saxon strap mount has cast decoration of a lion looking upwards with its front paw raised and tail curled between its legs and over its back.

Late Saxon copper alloy stirrup-strap mount, see Type 11, Class A in (S1). Sub-triangular, broken, trilobed apex missing, two attachment holes above slight flange. Cast decoration of a lion looking upwards (facing to the right), front paw raised and tail curled between legs and over back.
