Summary

An NAU evaluation on land adjacent to Orchard Cottage found a quarry pit dating to the post medieval period. This quarry removed any earlier archaeology that may have been present on the site. Pottery from the Late Saxon to post medieval period was recovered.

12-13 December 2000. Trial Trench. Contexts 1-2.
A single trial trench was excavated, revealing a large depression with a single deep feature at its base. This is believed to be a post-medieval quarry pit. Late Saxon to post-medieval pottery was recovered from the pit.
