Site identified during archaeological assessment of Holkham Estate.
Decoy pond, built about 1730.
A map of about 1730 of Holkham Marshes, (S1), also shows the decoy, pencilled in as a 4 pipe rectangular decoy. Work on the decoy during the 1740 is noted in (S2).
The decoy is flooded for the reserve but is being restored (2001).
