Full Description
8 July 1996. NLA air photography.
Cropmarks of 2 (possibly 3) ring ditches can be seen.
The largest and clearest of these is located at NGR TG 4093 0725. It is c. 30m in diam. And there appears to be a small gap in the ditch to the north east giving it a slight hengiform appearance (?).
As well as this there appears to be at least 2 rectilinear enclosures and several linear features, all showing as cropmarks.
The 2 enclosures are adjacent to each other, and the south one has a clear entrance on its south side.

Cropmarks of two ring ditches of probable Bronze Age date are visible on aerial photographs (S1-S3). Cropmarks of another ring ditch and linear ditches and enclosures previously included under this HER number are now recorded separately as NHER 49388-89. The central grid reference for these cropmarks has been amended from TG 4090 0717 to TG 4094 0724. The larger of the two ring ditches is circular in plan with a 2.5m wide ditch and an external diameter of 32m. There is a 1m wide gap in the ring ditch in its north-west side (not north-east as stated above) which is possibly an entrance and gives it a hengiform appearance. The second possible ring ditch is located to its east and is centred on TG 4097 0723. It has a sub-circular plan with a narrow ditch and a maximum external diameter of 13m. This possible ring ditch also has a gap in the ditch on its northwest side, giving it a hengiform appearance reminiscent of the larger ring ditch. It is possible that both of these ring ditches are of Bronze Age date and that they relate to round barrows. A third ring ditch previously recorded as part of this site is located 140m to the south and is now recorded separately as NHER 49388.
