Full Description
December 2001.
House, apparently once timber-framed, mid-17th century of lobby entrance type. Extended and side walls clad in flint, reusing a lava quern fragment. Heightened about 1800.
Now derelict and proposed for demolition.
Report (S1) in file.
E. Rose (NLA), 21 December 2001.
May 2002. Building Survey.
Survey prior to demolition.
Basically confirms above account, but suggests that building was aligned in the opposite direction - that service cell at north end where 19th-century section now is; and states quern fragment is really erratic.
See report (S2) for further details. The results of this work are also summarised in (S3).
E. Rose (NLA), 14 January 2003.
