Full Description
Before 15 September 2001. Metal detecting.
Medieval copper alloy finger ring with hoop of sub-rectangular section. Tiny transverse grooves form a continuous border on each edge of the hoop. Four rubbed cross shaped stamps, equidistantly spaced, appear on the hoop, perhaps the remains of a scheme originally more decorative.
Diameter 24mm, internal diameter 21mm.
Similar plain examples of 15th century date have been found in London, see (S1).
A. Rogerson (NLA), 22 September 2001.
