Summary

Metal detecting at this location in 2001 recovered a Late Saxon strap mount in the form of a cross with an expanded base. This example showed traces of bordering decoration.

October/November 2001. Metal detecting.
Late Saxon Ae strap mount in form of a cross with expanded base which curves back to form a flnge, pierced by two rivet holes, iron in holes and on reverse, broken across further circular perforation through body, the upper vertical arm is missing, traces of bordering decoration. See for comparison (S1)'s Class A, Type 14, no. 348.
Dimensions of 33 x (at least) 35mm.
