Map

August 2001. Air Photo Interpretation.
NLA oblique air photography (S2).
Series of cropmarks within the cultivated land to the northeast of Blickling Hall.
A possible trackway or routeway previously recorded under this number is now recorded under NHER 66768.
Several other multiple linears abut up to the above feature. These linears form rectangular enclosed areas. It is possible that these are pre-park features, although it is likley that these relate to the park layout, possibly defining compartments of woodland, such as those still evident on the ground to the immediate south.
Information from HER Data Transfer Form (S1).
S. Massey (NLA), 24 August 2001. Amended H. Hamilton (HES), 26 February 2024.

December 2022. Aylsham and Brampton Aerial Investigation and Mapping (AIM) Project.
The cropmarks of boundaries, trackways and enclosures (see above) of a possible medieval to post-medieval date are seen on aerial photographs (S1-S3). The features may relate to the pre-parkland landscape of Blickling park (NHER 30433). It is also possible that the features may instead have related to early parkland features. Although the features are likely to be medieval to post-medieval in date, an earlier date cannot be ruled out. Section of earthwork bank and cropmark ditch which may relate to a former medieval to post-medieval park boundary (NHER 66768), associated with Blickling park (NHER 30433) can also be seen running through the centre of the area. For further discussion see unpublished contractor report (S5).
