Map

26 June 1996. NLA air photography.
Series of earthwork rectilinear enclosures and associated linears and ditches. Two of the enclosures may have been moated, although it is not clear. The whole carr site is criss crossed with drains, some of the linears mapped may also be drainage features. A trackway cuts across the site, although this may in part be a recent feature as its use post dates many of the linears and major drains.

June 2022. Aylsham and Brampton Aerial Investigation and Mapping (AIM) Project.
Earthwork banks and ditches (see above) which may relate to former trackways, boundaries, and enclosures of a possible medieval to post medieval date are seen on aerial photographs and on recent (2017) visualised lidar data (S1-2). The site consists of a possible raised trackway flanked by two ditches (centred at TG 2077 2733), a series of linear ditches and bank features which may have related to former boundaries or drainage, a sub rectangular pit feature (centred at TG 2079 2731) and a section of a possible enclosure (centred at TG 2087 2734). A causeway is visible across the possible enclosure although this may be a modern feature. The date of the features is uncertain, although a Medieval to post medieval date is possible. Modern drainage and trackways are visible across the area and its possible that some of the mapped features may relate to the modern drainage or natural features. The monument polygon has been amended to the extent of the features as seen on S2.
J. Powell (Norfolk Historic Environment Service), 15 June 2022.
